Online Interview with model: Raquel Reed MM#19274
Raquel Reed described herself best when she stated “…basically I'm a living cartoon.” She combines bright intense hair and makeup color with a vivid fashion style to match. Steaming from what seemed to have started as a Philly trash pop scene, Raquel has mastered the Indulgent Star look. Everything from flash dancer skinny pants with denim vests to flowing intense pop dresses, Raquel models with poise and a couture quality demanding the viewer to notice her tough approach on the simplest of images.
I wanted to get some questions about the fashion trend answered from Raquel and I thank her for answering.
OK first of all, I have to know, who does your hair and do they take appointments!?
haha i usually do all my own hair ..for shoots also.. im weird with people doing it.. i dont trust anyone with my hair ;D
You’re a Mac Makeup artist, do you follow the makeup trends delivered by Mac or absolutely set your own?
i set my own definatly.. we have theme days that are natural bronze ect.. but ill come in wearing hot pink lips and silver glitter on my eyes.haha
Do designers contact you to wear their clothing, or do you see the designs and ask to wear the wardrobes?
it goes both ways it takes alot to impress me so its usually stuff sent to me and i pick if i wanna shoot in it or not.. but its very rare i will. im a picky person.
When did you take on the form of fashion and the style that youre known for? Was it something you grew into, or did you just decide one day that’s what you wanted to look like?
i think it was something i grew into. i was punk scary girl in high school ..kinda molded into color crazyness..and now.. its a little more reserved but still crazy.
What clubs did you frequent in the late 90’s, early 00’s?
haha well im very young i turned 20 in april so .. i really dont have a favor. i started going to clubs around 14 15.. in la..club 82,moscow that sort of thing.
You’re getting pretty big in the online press, when did you start modeling and when did you notice that you really began to get noticed?
i actually started modeling at age 8 for guess kids but it was commercial.i quit and started again at about 14 ,15 doing modeling my "own" way.and found it alot more exciting. i think of the concept for all my shoots style them do the hair and makeup...i think i show a progression in my work over the years that shows pop in a put together way.i started getting noticed once my work was looking more and more like a series ,every photo ties into the last but still has something different to look at.and thats what its about new and exciting thats what people want to see.
How many people have you noticed copy you? What do you say to that?
haha alot.. but you know ill take it as flattery..sometimes i get mad but my friends will reassure me thats what it is..flattery.
When is YOUR shirt going to be in hot topic ;)

How do you manage to stay so skinny?
my brother is skinnier than me and hes 23...fast metabolism runs in my family.. i literally eat fried anything,mashed potatoes,and ice cream,thats my diet.
When you’re not modeling, what fills yours days?
work at mac..hanging with my friends.. ill sit around and do arts and crafts or think of ideas for shoots and make stuff to wear or make hair peices for them..
What's your ultimate goal in life or any short term goals you're looking to fullfill?
ive always wanted to perform and sing.. i know i can do it . i get shy as hell though ! i need to work on that.
How many tats do you have and what’s your most significant one?
blowdryer,bambi,ringpop,lightning bolts,and a crying tooth. i dont really think any of them are significant haha.. im a spure of the moment type. you only live once..but i think i do favor my blowdryer the best .
Whats the next hairstyle for Winter 08’? Any ideas on it yet? Would you ever dread your hair?
well i just signed to an agency and i cant change my hair for another year:( do teal for a while..than im not sure im liking yellow lately.
Any thoughts you’d like to leave us on?
